Dabble

I like to say I dabble in the fiber arts. Dabbling gives me permission to take my time and savour my knitting process. The first year I knit scarves, the second year I knit hats, the third year I knit mittens and now I am in love with the idea of spinning. I view old vintage postcards of spinning wheels and peer onto pages of Craigs List thinking about how it would feel to own a spinning wheel. I have the fiber in my hands. Sitting over the wheel my muscles would be feeling the tension of my first experience in spinning.

April First, 2011

This is my first blog post.....today I am knitting a shrug that is 42" long. I have been working on it for two weeks. Working sounds like too much effort...it is effort but mostly it is sitting in idle mode. I like the pattern because it is solid stockinette stitch except for 2" of ribbing in knit 2 purl 2 at the beginning and end. So when I sit on my sofa in idle mode I am thinking and knitting. Maybe this is what being 62 years old is about...sitting in idle mode.
